Bandw Vlund To Build Operate 40Mw Wood Waste To Energy Facility In Wales
Danish waste to energy technology manufacturer, Babcock & Wilcox (B">Volund explained that the facility, under Margam Green Energy project, will be capable of processing waste wood, including contaminated wood and fuel containing metals, with no pre-treatment whatsoever.

As reported by the Waste Management World journal, the plant will have a capacity of 280,000 tons per annum, generating 40MW of energy. Wood for the project will be supplied by Stobart Biomass Products Ltd under a long term contract that will bring 250,000 tons of fuel to the plant from supply depots in the region.

Earlier this week, renewable energy company Eco2 Ltd. announced the sale of the Margam Green Energy project to investors, Glennmont Partners on behalf of its dedicated clean energy fund, Glennmont Clean Energy Fund Europe II, in a deal worth lb160 million.

John Olesen, managing director of B">In addition, B">Earlier in August last year, B">The facility was the first in the UK to be equipped with the DynaGrate system, and the project marked the first time that Volund had operated as turnkey supplier of not only the combustion system, but also the flue gas treatment system through its Swedish subsidiary G"otaverken Milj"o.

The DynaGrate is said to give excellent fuel flexibility and project contingency through its design. It also has the capability to manage changing fuel characteristics over the life of the plant.
